Riding Lessons

Help us by learning a new skill. Each $45 riding lesson pays for one bag of feed. You will receive 1 hour of instruction from one of our volunteer staff on how to care for and groom a horse, how to properly put on the necessary tack (saddle, bridle, etc.), and how to ride.

If you are a beginning rider, that is great. We love sharing the gift of riding, and we will go at a moderate pace that will benefit both you and one of our rehabilitating horses.

If you are an experienced rider, we will evaluate your skillset and help you choose a horse that best matches your skill level and the horse’s therapy needs.

Please make sure to wear the appropriate footwear when riding. No flip-flops, Crocs, or sandals will be allowed.

Please keep in mind that horse riding is dependent on the weather. If it is unsafe for the horse, the lessons will be cancelled and rescheduled. You can contact us at 757-770-0358 or email us at willowwoodssanctuary@gmail.com to confirm if lessons have been cancelled.

If you are a sponsor and need to schedule your riding times, please use the sponsor link. If you are scheduling two people at the same time, please use both slots. Do not put two people in one slot unless they are sharing the 1-hour riding time.

Thank you for your support.
